John SlitzJohn Slitz is a seasoned, senior technology executive whose core skills lie in marketing and operations which he has consistently leveraged to reposition and grow companies. He was recruited in the mid-90’s from the Object Management Group, where he was a Founder and the Vice President Marketing, into IBM as their Vice President of Object Technology Strategy as a direct report to Steve Mills, who ultimately became the SVP & GM responsible for building and running IBM Software. John next moved to Novell, as WW SVP Marketing reporting to Eric Schmidt their CEO, and was one of the key people responsible for that company’s return to relevance and a much higher market valuation in the very competitive marketplace of the early 2000’s. After a two-year tenure as Entrepreneur in residence to Silicon Valley Venture Firms, he became the CEO of Systems Research and Development (SRD).  SRD pioneered a Big Data approach called “Identity Mining.” The company was acquired by IBM in 2005. Back at IBM, John led the acquired company as the VP & GM of IBM’s Threat, Fraud and Intelligence BU, where he was responsible for IBM’s entree into the WW Security market. After leaving IBM he joined the pioneering multidimensional, Big Data company SpaceCurve, in 2011 as their CEO, and managed that company through to initial product release before departing at the beginning of the summer 2014.

From 2014 through today John, as principal of FocalPoint LLC, has been involved in a number of companies and product launches.   Most recently retained by Oracle to assist in crafting the positioning and messaging for the Oracle Cancer Research Cloud initiative.
